Little Wonders of Architecture!

„Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness.“

Frank Gehry

The word architecture comes from ancient Latin and can be translated as “the art of building”. It refers to the planned design, creation, and construction of buildings of every kind and extent. The heart of architecture is the craft-based design and it’s an expression of the aesthetic engagement of humans with the built environment as well as a manifestation of human creative power.

Architecture surrounds us in countless places. It manifests itself in urban planning, landscape architecture, and also internally through interior design. Even if we are often unaware of it, architecture creates an environment that constantly affects us in certain ways. It can distress us, delight us, frighten us, make us feel uneasy. It can convey power and grandeur, and inspire humility. The power of architecture cannot be denied.

Therefore, I would like to dedicate this website to architecture and all kinds of wonders created by human construction. Here I like to share my impressions and knowledge about magnificent castles, splendid temples, playful fountains and monumental walls as well as small artistic gems, such as delicate windows, gates or steps, which we often overlook.

I’m Jane and I warmly welcome you to the little wonders of architecture!
